1. How is it possible that oysterbaby slings are thinner and cooler yet more supportive then a regular cotton-elastane wrap?

Bamboo fabric has a higher tensile strength than cotton and is therefore stronger and lighter than cotton, and unlike cotton jersey it maintains its memory. Bamboo fabric is also more breathable than cotton.

2. Can bamboo fabric be machine washed and tumble dried?

Yes, we recommend washing it separely on 30 degrees Celcius. Line dry when possible. It can tumbled dry on low heat.

3. What makes oysterbaby slings more comfortable than other slings and baby carriers?

Oysterbaby is tried and tested up to 14 kg. You can wear your baby in different positions to suit your growing baby.

6. Are Oysterbaby slings suitable for 'Kangaroo Care'?

Yes. Oysterbaby is a great sling to carry your premature baby skin to skin. Simply use an oysterbaby to wrap your baby against your bare chest, while he or she is wearing a nappy only.

7. Shall I wear my oysterbaby under or over my coat?
Oysterbaby slings are designed to wear your baby close to your skin, you only need to wear a thin top under the sling. The idea is that you layer over the top, you can zip your coat up over the sling so protecting your baby from the wind and rain. There is also no need to wake a sleeping baby when you go inside!

9. It looks very complicated to use. Will I master tying it?

Some may need to practice tying the sling, say 2 or 3 times, but it becomes second nature pretty quickly, just like tying a shoe lace. The sling comes with a beautifully illustrated manual with step-by-step instructions.

10. How does oysterbaby slings differ from other wrap carriers on the market?
Although other wrap carriers are similar in design, the main difference is the material. Most wrap carriers are made of cotton, either with or without elastane. Oysterbaby is made from 100% bamboo fabric, which is much more breathable, and softer than regular cotton wrap carriers, making it more comfortable for you and for baby. Other advantages of bamboo are that

11. Where are Oysterbaby slings produced and are the dyes used toxin free?

Oysterbaby slings are all handmade in England. All our materials are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified and have passed the stringent Oeko-Tex Standard 100 test for harmful substances.

12. Will my baby become clingy if I carry him in a sling instead of a buggy?
Quite the opposite. Carrying your baby in a sling encourages infants to feel secure and content. It can reduce the level of the stress hormone, cortisol, produced when a child feels anxious - resulting in calmer, happier babies. Reseach shows babies worn in slings are less clingy and tend to initiate separation much earlier than babies less frequently held.

13. Is it good for my baby’s physical development?
